Bride & Groom: Mary & TJ
Gown Style: 6538
My name is Mary Vickers, I just recently married my best friend, TJ Vickers, on September 23rd, 2017. TJ and I have known each other all through our years at high school together. TJ, what I thought, was the popular guy in school. He played soccer, tennis, and swam. He was an athlete, had amazing grades, and broke a school swim record for our school Suwannee High in Live Oak, FL. He was spontaneous, was the class clown, and everyone loved him. I, on the other hand, was the shy girl in high school. I had friends but never stuck with a “clique”. I got good grades but not excellent. I didn’t do sports, I never went out in high school to parties or anything. I kinda stayed to myself.
Fast forward to the year 2012, I had been single for a while and not really looking for anyone. One day I received a Facebook message from TJ. I thought it was strange because he never talked to me in high school, so I called my best friend Kelsey and told her about the message. She told me to message him back and I did, but I tried to keep my distance. Like I said, I was single and not looking for anyone so I didn’t want him to get the wrong impression. He continued to message me, although I didn’t really give him the time of day. He gave me his number and wanted me to text him, I never did.
Until one day, I was hanging out with some friends in what was our hometowns hang out spot back then, the public parking lot. I saw him pull up in his black Cadillac and I slapped my best friend Kaitlyn on the arm and said, “OMG! That’s TJ Vickers!”. Little did I know, he heard me. I actually sent him a text that night and we met up at a party that one of our high school classmates was having. We hung out the whole time and talked. We continued to talk every now and then until one day I decided I was going to move to North Carolina to go live with my friend. This is where we kind of stopped talking.
> >> Until, plans changed. I changed my mind in moving to North Carolina. My dad was having some health problems around this time and I knew I wanted to move still but not far away. My friend Kaitlyn told me she was moving into an apartment in Gainesville and talked me into going and signing a lease to live with her that day. So I did, and I sent a text to TJ, not thinking I would get a response, and said, “So, guess who is moving to Gainesville?”. Next thing you know I got a message back from him that day and the rest is history. Two days after I moved to Gainesville and into my apartment he asked me out on a date. Ever since then, I’ve fallen more in love with him everyday. We got together on July 31, 2012, he asked me to marry him July 16, 2016, and we just got married on September 23, 2017. My happiest moments have been with him. Yes, we have endured our hard times together but that comes with every relationship you get in. If you love that person enough though, the good times you share will always outweigh the bad. Today I can’t picture where I’d be in this life without my best friend. He is my partner, my companion, my encourager, and my strength. I love him with all my heart and I can’t wait to spend forever with him.
> >> >> So, that’s our story. Thank you for allowing me to share to you the most beautiful part of my life thus far.
